Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
We share these Prayers of the Faithful from the weekend’s Feast of Christ the King (Nov 25-26, 2023), Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, in hopes that they are helpful in your further reflection and prayer this week.
God, today we celebrate your dream for creation where mercy and faithfulness embrace, and your people will know that you have made your home with us.
We pray :
Your vision and your invitation, God, is for a “world turned upside down” where the poor and those in need, those burdened by physical or mental and spiritual hurts are the center of attention. Help us to see this reality among us. We pray to the Lord.
Bless those who feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, befriend those in trouble, and care for those in pain – in our parish, in our families, in our world. We pray to the Lord.
We pray that enough people speak up and take action to challenge the economic model that is leading our natural world to imbalance and destruction. Convert the hearts of those who ravage the earth and strengthen the resolve of those who respect it. Prevent us from destroying by thoughtlessness, that which is not ours to own. We pray to the Lord.
We pray that your kingdom may come into places of conflict, into the hearts of politicians and leaders, into the hearts of those bereaved by war, into the hearts of those who abuse and harm others, into the hearts of those who despair, to those who are addicted, those who are fearful or lonely, to those we name before you in silence now (pause for a slow count to 10) , into our hearts, we pray to the Lord.
God of love, father of Jesus, help us to see that your Way is a way of living that gives us greater life, freedom from things that would harm us – and joy. Help us who are often too busy and too burdened, to experience that joy. We pray to the Lord.
God, we love and miss our friends and family who have died. Grant healing and hope to hearts that are grieving and eternal life to those whom you have called to yourself. May they now be members of the Communion of Saints. At this liturgy we especially remember
4:30 PM Michael Veit by Mary & Jim
7:30 AM The People of the Parish Both Living & Deceased
9:30 AM William & Michael Jennings by Family
5:00 PM Marion Thayer Rand by Marsha Stevens & Rocco Botto
We pray to the Lord.
We offer you God, these prayers and those we hold in our hearts. Grant us the ability to pray and really mean the words “your kingdom come on earth as in heaven” and the vision to see that this will happen when we follow your inspiration in our daily lives. Amen.
