Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – 4th Sunday of Lent

Mar 10, 2024 | Prayers of the Faithful

We share these Prayers of the Faithful from March 9-10, the 4th Sunday of Lent.  May they be helpful to you this week during your personal prayer and reflection.

We’re now starting the fourth week of our journey to closer relationship with you. Give us inspiration if we’ve hardly begun. Give us perseverance if we find ourselves growing weary of prayer, of sacrificing, of caring. For our journey to you and for all others you love we pray today.

God, you have made it clear that if we want to bring about your kingdom in this world, we can’t just sit back and interfere or close our eyes to what is going. This week help us to see, to use our energies and our caring natures this week to work for change where that is needed. We pray to the Lord.

You are a God who loves us, even when we are wrong, even when we fail. Help us to stop making you into a God of judgment and condemnation. We pray to the Lord.

The ancient prophets, women, and men could see in the events of their lives and their nation, your hand at work. Help us to see in our lives how you are inviting us and to see in the life of our communities and nations signs of the way to greater life, and signs that point to harm. We pray to the Lord.

Grant us a greater understanding of the difficult questions of life: caring for strangers and the poor, how it is drug use distorts everything, and the complex issues around gender and sexual identity. Open our hearts so that we may hear those whom we see as different. We pray to the Lord.

Most of all God, help us never to give up hope: that things can change, that each of us can change, that the injuries and wounds we carry can be healed. There is much around us that can diminish hope. Let us not be overcome by that. We pray to the Lord.

You have promised that through Jesus even death has been defeated. We now entrust our loved ones to you and that promise. Today we are especially remembering:

4:30 PM Joanne Amy Costa by Jim & Mary Allen

7:30 AM  The People of the Parish both Living & Deceased

9:30 AM Gina Caminiti by April Jones DeCourcey Family

5:00 PM Katherine & Sidney Noel by the Family

We pray to the Lord.

You are a God who gives us unlimited chances. We thank you for your patience and understanding and ask you to encourage our potential. Release and realize all the promise within us so we can make our lives healthy and wholesome and hope to make the living of others more fully complete. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
