Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – 4th Sunday of Easter

Apr 23, 2024 | Prayers of the Faithful

We share these Prayers of the Faithful from the 4th Sunday of Easter (April 20-21, 2024) with the hope that they are helpful for further reflection and prayer.

God, most of us likely do not have much personal knowledge of shepherds. We pray that we do have a personal experience of your deep, abiding, and sacrificial love for us. We pray for our brothers and sisters who are in danger or who have never experienced being loved.

Many parts of our world are torn by violence or living on the edge of war or famine. Send to us shepherds – leaders of integrity, wisdom, and courage to lead this world in ways of peace and justice, we pray to the Lord.

We pray that this parish and your church worldwide be a place of safety, welcome and healing, where everyone can be touched by love and we can be led to become people who live in truth and compassion. For all those working to make our Catholic Church more welcoming. We pray to the Lord.

We pray that your Spirit banishes inertia and a sense of hopelessness that nothing we do can matter, and instead ignites a passion for change in leaders of business, government, and science – and us – so that we discover and make the changes needed to protect the natural world, our common home. We pray to the Lord.

We pray for those in special need at this time – those who are sick and those who will not get better, the lonely and afraid. Enfold them with your love and presence. We pray to the Lord.

In this month of alcohol awareness, we pray for those whose lives and families are harmed by alcohol and other addictions. We pray for those in recovery and those counselors and sponsors who give hope. We pray to the Lord.

Holy and just God, make us like Jesus, ready to take risks, willing to weep, aware that we’re loved, called to love our brothers and sisters. When people meet us may it be that they meet Jesus. We pray to the Lord.

We remember those who journeyed with us and have moved on into your eternal presence where their eyes are fully opened to your love and glory. At this liturgy we especially commend to you:

4:30 PM Rafael Dalipe by Jane Guinoo, Dalipe Family & Guinoo Family

7:30 AM The People of the Parish, both Living & Deceased

9:30 AM Richard Dillihunt by John & Eileen Fox

5:00 PM Marjorie Lenois by Natalie Baltos

We pray to the Lord.

We entrust these prayers to you Lord, along with those of our hearts and our online community. Help us to follow You all the days of our lives and know Your costly care for us. Amen.
