Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – 3rd Week in Advent
Rejoice! We share the Prayers of the Faithful from the 3rd Sunday of Advent (Dec 16-17, 2023) Gaudate Sunday.
Lord God, Creator of all and Father of Jesus, the time is now getting short before Christmas. Thank you for this time to think and pray:
We pray for Pope Francis on his 87th birthday. Be close to him, granting him good health, wisdom, and courage, we pray to the Lord.
For people who are homeless by choice or need. Help us find ways of assisting those who are living on our streets. For those staffing food pantries and soup kitchens and shelters, may they affirm the dignity of each person they serve, we pray to the Lord.
Be with children everywhere, God, and their parents. Children in danger in Gaza and Ukraine and other places of war and violence, children without enough food and clean water. Children who are blessed with safety and caring families, we pray to the Lord.
Be with those for whom Christmas is a hard time, a sad time..Bless them with who and what they need, and prompt us to be loving and caring. We pray to the Lord.
We pray for those who are sick, for those who are dying and those who are being born, and for all who care for them. We pray for those who are longing for good news. We pray to the Lord.
God many people have enough food for their bodies, but their hearts are empty and aching, aware that they are not satisfied, but not sure what will fill that hunger. Touch these hearts with your love. Put into their lives someone who can help them believe they are loved. We pray to the Lord.
Today we place in your hands the lives of those we have loved and who have left us. Welcome them home to a greater light than we can know here. At this liturgy we especially remember:
4:30 PM Angelo Polito by Family
7:30 AM The People of the Parish both Living & Deceased
9:30 AM Barbara Goodwin by Her Husband & Family
5:00 PM Deceased Members of Julie & Rosaire Dostie’s Family by The Family
We pray to the Lord.
As we wait for the gift of the Christ Child, as we pray for the ways we can give, we ask you God, to be in us in our work, or callings, our journeys, our wondering. Help us to be lights in the darkness, lights that burn bravely, in the circle of your love. Amen.
