Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jul 1, 2024 | Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful for the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time June 29-30, 2024

God, all of life is your creation. You stand always with life against death and darkness. We pray to live in your light and to trust your love.

The Book of Wisdom states that you, God, did not make death. In Christ we have the promise that physical death is not our end. Keep us safe from all the other death-dealing forces around us: fear, ignorance, violence, prejudice and anger and despair. We pray to the Lord.

Jesus lived in Capernaum, a crossroads town, he repeatedly moved between Jewish and Gentile territory, he dealt with Roman centurions and Samaritan women. Help us to set aside the walls and barriers that come of prejudice and ignorance, for these are all marks of death. May we know we are all brothers and sisters. We pray to the Lord.

Bless those who live with long-lasting and debilitating diseases and those who care for them. We pray to the Lord.

This week we celebrate our nation’s birth. Help us to live by our founding ideals of equal justice to all and welcome to all seeking a future of hope. Give us the courage and honesty to hold accountable to these ideas those who would be our leaders. We pray to the Lord.

We pray also for all those ordinary people in towns and communities whose work will make this week’s festivities possible – members of Committees, Town Boards, Fraternal organizations. For them and all who give of their time and talent, usually unpaid, often unnoticed, we pray to the Lord.

For our loved ones and all who have gone before us, that the promise of life beyond death is true for them now. At this liturgy we remember

4:30 PM Patricia Kerray by Terence Goodwin & Family

7:30 AM Wanda Dudar by the Miller & Dudar Family

9:30 AM People of the Parish, both Living & Deceased

5:00 PM Berlin Castillo by His Family

We pray to the Lord.

God of every race and tongue, may the peoples of our world learn again to be humble enough to listen to one another instead of rushing to easy judgments, to have the gift of humility which enables the other to flourish as well as ourselves. We make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
