Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jun 25, 2024 | Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful for the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time (June 22-23, 2024)

God our Creator, we ask for the gift of prayer in good times and in bad. Today we come especially mindful of the challenges of life and the times when we or others reach out to you when we are frightened.

We pray for those in danger today: physical danger on the sea or land or in the air or psychological danger or moral danger. Hold them safe and grant them the peace the disciples experienced in today’s Gospel. We pray to the Lord.

We pray for the Church, those confused in the Church and those whose words or actions are dividing the church. We pray your continued blessing on Pope Francis. We pray to the Lord.

We pray for those whose fears come as they await: a medical test result, a doctor’s call, word from a loved one who is estranged or distant, a decision on a job application, all those forms of hard waiting and anticipation. We pray to the Lord.

We pray for those who wait the end of conflict in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Haiti, Armenia- Azerbaijan. We pray to the Lord.

We pray for those whose struggle is with addictions of some form, for families who suffer and communities which struggle because of addiction-caused crime and violence. We pray to the Lord.

Jesus has conquered death, yet we confess, most of us, that the idea of our death makes us uneasy. We ask for peace of mind in the light of our faith and we ask your blessing on our loved ones and neighbors who have died. At this liturgy we especially commend to you

4:30 PM Lucy Burke by Stephen & Cindy

7:30 AM People of the Parish, both Living & Deceased

9:30 AM Tom Dwyer by Don Caouette

5:00 PM Joseph Paduano by Brien & Anne Hoye

We pray to the Lord.

We bring to you today these prayers. Tomorrow there will be more. May we have the trust that was the gift of our Celtic ancestors who could pray: “ God to enfold us. God to surround us. God in our sleeping. God in our waking. God in our watching. God in our hoping. God on our lips. God in our lives.” We make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
