Prayerful Concerns of Our Parish Community – 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time
We post these Prayers of the Faithful from the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time, Oct 29-30, 2022, with the hope that they are helpful to you in your own reflections and prayers this week.
Jesus, you have shown us that for our God, the door of forgiveness is always open Let the door of our hearts open more widely that we receive and trust in that love for our selves and those for whom we pray today.
Pope Francis has said the church needs to be a “field hospital”, a place and people that welcome the hurt, confused, the suffering of the world. May it be so. May our parish be so. Help us Lord to recognize our own needs and hurts, we pray to the Lord.
For those who are often “out of doors” – the homeless, unemployed or under-employed, or those who cannot earn enough to provide for themselves, for those who are injured or ill, and those suffering from any kind of addiction; we also pray for those who may not suffer physical want, but who are held at a distance because of who they are: their race, religion, health issues, their sexuality, we pray to the Lord.
The most precious thing we have is time. Many of us over-book and over-plan. Some of us have too much time, time when no one comes or no one calls. Help us busy ones to use our time wisely enough that we might be able to offer comfort or conversation to our lonely ones. We pray to the Lord.
Lord we mostly want to do the right thing. To be generous. But sometimes it is not enough to write a check or another letter to our Senators. Help us to open our hearts and make ourselves vulnerable to those who hurt or are in need. We pray to the Lord.
We pray for our precious planet. Give us wisdom and courage to challenge the patterns of exploitation and damage to the world. Help us understand those who are already paying a high price for the way things operate and face floods, drought, and fierce storms. We pray to the Lord.
St. Augustine was probably right when he said that our hearts are restless until they rest in you. Bless those whose have completed the journey of this life and whose hearts are now back united to you. At this liturgy we especially remember:
4:30 PM Catherine Goddard
7:30 AM Shawn Ingalls
9:30 AM For the People of the Parish both Living & Deceased
5:00 PM Patricia B. Powell
We pray to the Lord
We place our needs in your hands, Lord, and we ask: through the turning of the seasons, bless us with wildness and wonder. Through our nights and our days, bless us with adventure and courage. Through the journey of our lives, bless us with healing and trust that your love is un-ending. We make these prayers through Christ our Lord.
