November: The Month of the Holy Souls

November is the Month of the Holy Souls, which begins with the Solemnity of All Saints on November 1 and the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed on November 2. Together these days give us the opportunity to be grateful for those who came before us, both known and unknown to us.  It’s also an opportunity to pray to them for guidance and to intercede on our behalf AND to pray for them.

On All Souls Day, we will have a dedicated Mass for our deceased loved ones at 4 pm at St. Pius X.  Whether your grief is new or if it has been a while and it has settled into your being, it can be a tender time of year. We invite you to join with others at this special afternoon Mass.

Members of our Bereavement Ministry will be present and will read the names of those who have died in the past year.

Mass times for All Saints Day, a Holy Day, are listed here on our calendar.

The Passion of the Lord – Palm Sunday and Holy Week at Our Lady of Hope gives us all the opportunity to pay special attention to the movements of the Holy Spirit in our lives and be drawn closer to God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Palm Sunday Masses will be at our regular Mass times: 4:30 Saturday afternoon at St. Pius X, with a procession from the parish hall to the church; Sunday at 7:30 am at the Craig and Dolly Foster Gym at St. Brigid School, 9:30 am at St. Pius X, with a procession from the parish hall to the church and, finally, at 5 pm at the Craig and Dolly Foster Gym at St. Brigid.

Daily Mass will be held at St. Pius X at regularly scheduled time on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Morning prayers will be held in lieu of Mass on Holy Thursday and Good Friday mornings at 9 am.

Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper and washing of feet will be at 7 pm at St. Pius X Church. This is a beautiful and especially meaningful Service for parishioners of all ages, whether for a first time experience or one that you wouldn’t miss each year.

St. Joseph’s Masses Move to Gym at St. Brigid School

We are moving the 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Sunday Masses from St. Joseph Church to the Craig & Dolly Foster Gymnasium at St. Brigid School for the winter beginning on January 8th.

These winter quarters are possible because of the beautiful response from parishioners. Many thanks to the Spirit-filled parishioners who have volunteered to set up folding chairs on Saturday afternoons in the gym. The schedule is full and folks have been notified of their assignments – as well as given contact information for alternates, should their availability change.

Upon the advice of the Parish Pastoral and Finance Councils, we are making this move because the parish continues to fall short of funds needed to cover day-to-day operations. The increase in fuel costs have made this problem more urgent — St. Joseph Church consumes an inordinate amount of fuel and is still not warm for Mass. So, we compromise with this solution.

All other liturgical services will be held at St. Pius X during this time frame.

We plan to return to St. Joseph Church for Mass beginning on Easter Weekend (April 8-9). Though it will still be chilly, the worst of the winter low temperatures will be behind us when we return for The Great Easter Vigil.

We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support of our ministries.
